Drawing its title from Daviel Shy’s 2019 essay “Women Seeing Women: The Politics of the Sideways Glance,” Sideways Glance explores the dialectical possibilities of seeing and being seen, touching and being touched, woman as subject and woman as object, positing the lesbian woman and, more specifically, the lesbian artist, as the palpating rupture between them.
